Computer Has a Higher Calling Donate that old computer that's been collecting dust since you last upgraded! You'll get a tax write-off -- and help out a local family less fortunate than yourself. Our goal is to return as many of these computers to the Community as possible -- with a minimum of waste. Help us keep these computers out of the landfill and put them into the hands of families that can really use and appreciate them. When you donate your old computer to this endeavor, everyone wins. Too often the gap between the 'haves' and the 'have-nots' can be bridged by simple access to information. What many of us take for granted is simply beyond the grasp of many of our neighbors here in the Telecom Corridor. In many homes here in the Plano / Richardson area, computers are commonplace and our children grow up accustomed to surfing the Internet, accessing world news and geographic data at will and doing their homework quickly and neatly with the aid of a Personal Computer. However ubiquitous computers may seem to most of us, there are many of our neighbors for whom a Personal Computer is a luxury they simply cannot afford. There are many families here where the addition of a Personal Computer would help the parents achieve computer skills that can improve their employability. They, as well as their children, will benefit from access to the Internet. Here at FUTR, we are attempting to help those less fortunate than ourselves by refurbishing donated computers, adding any necessary components or software to get them functional -- then distributing them to needy families in our area with the aid of local schools, churches and charities. In order to accomplish this task, we need your help. Please donate that old computer to this worthy cause. We can only take functioning computers with a minimum CPU speed of 200MHz, but the Storage and Memory is not an issue, as these components are easily upgraded from systems that cannot be fully restored. We need: Computers
(preferably with Operating System and Driver Disks) We will take all your information when you drop off your donation and you will receive a tax-deductible receipt. Items that cannot be refurbished due to being too slow -- or beyond reasonable repair will either be cannibalized to provide parts to repair other systems -- or will be sold, and the proceeds will be used to purchase speakers, cables, ink cartridges, etc. to complete systems for distribution. Our only personal compensation is knowing we are giving back something to our community. Please help with your kind donations.
